"Knowing a way out" is a great way to describe it..... In my particular case, until I went searching earlier this month and discovered your website, I had never tried to find a way out. Well, other than complete denial! When someone would notice my nails or if my family asked "Do you STILL bite your nails??", one of my more common brush-offs was "Well, of all the bad habits I could have, I figure this one isn't such a bad one..." Interesting now for me to realize though I acted like I didn't care, how embarrassed I was to have a client see the condition of my nails or to have a co-worker or friend notice and simply not know what to say to a 34-year-old who still bit her nails. I see now those situations truly made me feel like a child. And I believe now that I never tried to fix the problem because I had no idea how to even begin. So, thank you for your help. I truly appreciate it.
A full week now with no nail biting and I don't miss it one little bit. I haven't had to use the technique for two days, but I do remember it as a reminder for the time being. Now the only time I look at my nails is to see if they've grown any more today!
